THE VILLAGE INITIATIVE SUCCEEDS THROUGH ITS VOLUNTEERS
Help from the community and its members is vital to the success of the VILLAGE Initiative. Mentoring of youths is what this program is all about, and without dedicated, caring adults who are willing to spend a small portion of their time each week to help one or more youths build safer, stronger and more productive futures for themselves, it cannot succeed.
If you're an adult who takes pride in your job or career, are caring and empathetic with youth, and you feel it would be rewarding to help motivate youths to finish school and go on to productive and rewarding careers, you may have what it takes to be an effective mentor.
HERE'S HOW TO VOLUNTEER:
Simply call, write or email the Pulaski County Youth Services office at the address below. You will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire. A check will be made of your background, qualifications and references, and you will be advised whether you qualify as a mentor. If you qualify, you will be scheduled to attend mentor training and then assigned a youth or youths with whom you will work during your available times.
